Wheaton Interim to Suspend Services to Serve as Voting Site

In support of the election process in Montgomery County, the Wheaton Interim branch will temporarily suspend services at 6 PM on October 21 and resume those services on November 17 at 9 AM. In addition to the Wheaton Interim site, the County has nine other County facilities designated as early voting sites.

Customers may return materials to the Wheaton Interim branch until Friday October 21, 2016 at 6 PM. Nearby branches with 24 hours returns include Kensington Park, Silver Spring, Twinbrook, and White Oak. The Mid-County Community Center has a book drop that is accessible when the center is open. The hours of the Mid-County Community Center are Monday thru Thursday 9 AM to 9 PM, Friday and Saturday 9 AM to 7 PM.

The last day to select the Wheaton Interim as a holds pick-up location will be September 30, 2016. Customers may choose to suspend their holds until November 17, 2016 or select another location for holds pick-up.

Customers using the MARINA interlibrary loan system will need to select another pick-up location between September 30, 2016 and November 17, 2016. Items previously placed on hold will be able for pick-up at the Wheaton Interim location until October 21, 2016. Customers with MARINA items that become available from October 22, 2016 through November 16, 2016 will be called to select another location for pick-up.

“During this brief hiatus, the Montgomery County Board of Elections will be preparing for and holding early voting at the site,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton. “At the same time, MCPL staff will be excitedly completing the preparations needed to add books to the interim library. We will reopen with more services and materials to delight our customers.”

While the Wheaton Interim branch is on hiatus, residents may use MCPL's other branches or its 24/7 website. Nearby branches include Kensington Park, Silver Spring, Twinbrook, and White Oak.

The Wheaton Interim Branch is a temporary facility located on the second floor of the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Station. The Wheaton Interim Branch serves residents while the new combined Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center is being constructed.
