Programs and Construction Progress at Wheaton Interim

There are a number of programs being held at our location in March.

There will be three programs for young children each week.

Bedtime stories is held at 6:30 PM on Monday evenings. Tuesday Tales a traditional preschool storytime is held on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 AM (except on Tuesday March 7), and  on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 PM there is a musical sing along You-kulele and Me storytime for ages 0-6.

Building Block Time for little ones is on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am.

Books Alive! An interactive story program given by Inter-ACT Story Theatre for ages 4 and up will be held on Saturday March 18 at 2:00 PM.

There will be a e-reader/iPad tutorial workshop for adults on March 9.  SCORE will be returning to the Wheaton area on March 22.

The Wheaton Interim is a "one large room" setting. As a large single room and especially during children’s program times listed above, voices carry throughout the room. During children’s program times the room may have higher noise levels than expected.

There are tables and chairs for study and collaborative use. However, quieter spaces and collaborative study spaces may be found at nearby branches such as Silver Spring and Kensington Park.

Construction Progress:
The extension of Hermitage to Arcola is in the final stages of completion and is expected to be finished soon.

“During this brief hiatus, the Montgomery County Board of Elections will be preparing for and holding early voting at the site,” said MCPL Director Parker Hamilton. “At the same time, MCPL staff will be excitedly completing the preparations needed to add books to the interim library. We will reopen with more services and materials to delight our customers.”

While the Wheaton Interim branch is on hiatus, residents may use MCPL's other branches or its 24/7 website. Nearby branches include Kensington Park, Silver Spring, Twinbrook, and White Oak.
